3islands.org is up and running providing the public access to the international rural artistic collaboration that has produced some of the most interesting and mind bending art I’ve seen in a long time. The front end of the site is designed to reflect the randomness and individual nature of the works the project encompasses. The main body of content comprises of blogs that are set up for each individual artists involved in the project. This gives the artists control of their own realm uploading media remotely from which ever island they are on. The Hoy project has finished and despite some technical gremlins with dial up connections, the content which has been posted is fantastically imaganitive and unique. North Uist is due to go ahead in August so fingers crossed that all technical issues will be resolved.

www.tradeafro.com is now up and running. Providing fine hand crafted djembes fresh from Senegal. The company is rapidly expanding and has become involved in building a music school. They are also working on providing a workshop for the craftsmen who produce the drums. It’s great to see a company embrassing the root of their product and nurturing a sense of fairness and harmony within it’s ethos. Plans are afoot to expand the range of instruments available, and the site has been handed over to an African web designer for further development. So it will be intresting to see how this organic aproach will affect the already wacky design I’ve created.

schmo v3.1

schmo v3.1 is on the go. Featuring all the latest sites and scribbles I’ve been beavering away at over the last few months. I’ve given it a few visual tweaks and updated the About and Links text. Give it a look and let me know what you think.

RAJ Records.

RAJ Records is the brain child of Charlie McKerron of Cappercaille fame. The record label recently released it’s third record “Bottle necks and arm breakers” by Fiddle super group session a9. The website consists of the instructions for the game “Get tae Wick” which is included with the cd. But more content will be added soon …

Box Club album hits the laminate.

Box Clubs debut album has arrived and after some wrangling with the printer the finished product looks pretty good and sounds even better. Check out www.boxclub.co.uk for more details.  You would never equate a line up of four accordions to the sound these guys have created.

Mark French Photography

Mark is a photographer based in London specialising in fine art photography. Just re-designed his website for him.

The gallery is based around SlideShowPro which is a powerful .xml actionscript 2.0 gallery app. At $29 it provides a cheap and effective option for web designers and photographers alike. My role in the project was to design a pleasing environment for the gallery to reside in and to code and organise the .xml

Box club

I have nearly finished all the print and web design for Box club. Just got loose ends to tie up. The site is live www.boxclub.co.uk This is the first site I’ve created in actionscript 3.0.

Will post a full update on schmo.biz once all is done and dusted.

There are loads of interesting development sketches for this project, but we’ve ended up with something of destinct character.
